Music Box By Nicole Freres

Music box made in Switzerland by Nicole Frères in 1852.
The wooden box is decorated with marquetry of various exotic woods on the lid, a symmetrical citron wood cartouche in the center and a fillet on the sides. Inside the cover is the melody card. The whole thing is lacquered red inside. The sides, front and back of the box feature original wood grain simulation. On the bottom is the serial number (30016). This number also appears on the mechanism (top right) and on the melody card.
The mechanism, with key winding, plays 6 melodies as they appear on the original melody card. The boxes from this era are operated by 3 levers located on the left. The mechanism is signed on the base plate (top left), and the original comb.
The music box plays the melodies as they should.
Beautiful music box in very good working condition.
