"Exceptional Seman Carpet, Iran, Circa 1920/1930"
Old and important Semnan rug, of Iranian origin, made of wool velvet on a cotton foundation. Decor inspired by Persian miniatures from the 16th and 17th centuries from the Safavid era in Persia (under Shah Abbas, the Persian Louis shape of floral bulbs inlaid with bouquets, plants, weeping willows and composition of geometrically stylized flowers in polychrome. Triple borders, the main one of which is midnight blue with interlacing botehs and sprigs of stylized flowers and foliage in the shape of daggers recalling the ghoradi carpets of Armenian Karabagh. Observations: beautiful and original graphics. Rare colors of great softness and harmony. Dimensions: 410 cm x 340 cm Density: approximately 7,500 knots per dm2
