“Conte de Voltere”: it is an illustration for the tale written by Voltaire and published in 1768 under the title “The Princess of Babylon” which relates the adventures of Formosante, princess of Babylon, a pretext for Voltaire to draw up a sort of inventory of the Europe of his time.
