"Auguste Aridas (1848-1929) "edges Of Vienne Towards Eymoutiers" Limousin Painter, Limoges, Biche"
Pretty painting on cardboard by Auguste Aridas representing the edge of Vienne at Eymoutiers in Limousin, signed lower left + located on the back. Format of the painting alone without frame 46x38cm. It is therefore a very beautiful post-impressionist composition by Auguste Aridas who paints here an edge of Vienne towards Eymoutiers in Limousin, he uses as usual a powerful and impressionistic touch, as well as a very typical palette in a monochrome of greens, enhanced by blues, yellows, ochres, purples etc... a sublime creation by this excellent Limougeaud painter who paints here his heart region where we see the Vienne flowing in a very steep valley like this This is the case in Eymoutiers, an emblematic spot where Limousin artists like Bichet, Jouhaud, Albert Joseph met, but also other painters like Jean Lefort, Henri Pailler etc... I no longer present Auguste Aridas, one of the most famous Limugeau painter alongside Léon Jouhaud, Charles Bichet, Paul Laurent Courtot and Eugène Alluaud. A student of Dauban and Gérôme at the Paris School of Fine Arts, Auguste Aridas took up his position as professor in 1881 in the higher drawing division of the National School of Decorative Art in Limoges, whose any recent national status is accompanied by the appointment of Louvrier de Lajolais at the head of the establishment. This welcomes young girls in particular, who will then provide a qualified workforce for the decorative arts industries. In addition to the "special" courses in painting on earthenware, porcelain, glass or enamel, the School gave pride of place to the classical teaching of drawing, an eminently geometric and linear exercise. Aridas will represent in his paintings these young women busy with tasks in the arts of fire, several paintings of which are kept at the BAL museum in Limoges. But in addition to his famous genre scenes, Aridas painted numerous landscapes, including the banks of Vienna in Limoges or its surroundings, but also Paris, Brittany, etc. He also produced excellent portraits as well as superb still lifes. A complete artist, he taught drawing to many students and had Charles Bichet and Paul Laurent Courtot as faithful friends. This painting on cardboard is in very good condition, just cleaned by a professional, it is delivered ready to hang in its very pretty period natural wooden frame. Guaranteed authentic work
