Brass, glass.
Width: 21cm, Height with ball and foot: 15.5cm
Openwork brass half-circle with two scales from 0 to 180 degrees, and two sighting pinnacles. Engraved decoration of leaves and flowers.
The bottom of the compass is engraved with a four-way compass rose, four additional directions and a fleur-de-lis. The directions are also engraved in full. Blued hand. Graduation from 0 to 360 degrees engraved around the circumference.
A rotating arm is attached to the main plate, equipped with two sighting pinnules. Engraved en suite.
The turntable is fixed on a ball-and-socket joint set into its support tube with its brass butterfly screw.
Later wooden base.
