Bronze sculpture representing the goddess Aphrodite in an intimate scene before bathing. The goddess appears taking off her shoes. This way of representing the goddess Aphrodite became popular around the 2nd century BC. and we find examples both in the Museum of Art History in Vienna and in the Louvre Museum in Paris. During the neoclassical period these types of scenes from classical antiquity are reproduced in pieces like these.
Normally we usually find the goddess accompanied by Eros or a dolphin. In the case of this piece it is accompanied by a vase on which a cloth gently falls. The base of the sculpture is decorated with plant motifs.
