"Framed Sketch, Drawing 'alms' French School 19th"
Adorable drawing from the mid-19th century representing an almsgiving scene in a church. In the background of the drawing, we find a painting representing Saint Martin cutting his coat to offer it to a beggar. This painting echoes the symbolism of the sketch. 7 characters appear in the drawing: a poorly dressed woman with a patched dress, her baby in her arms and her son, begging from 2 women and 2 richly dressed men. One of the rich women hands a cloth to the little boy. In its very pretty original frame (some gaps on this one). Black pencil, white gouache. 19th - France Provenance: French private collection.
