Rare and Imposing old edition sculpture "L'après-Midi d'Un Faune" inspired by the legendary performance of Russian ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky and created by Marcel André Bouraine, distinguished sculptor of the Art Deco period. At the beginning of the 20th century , the Russian ballets of Serge de Diaghilev intend to revolutionize the art of dance through avant-garde figures of culture such as Nijinsky, Stravinsky, or the costume designer Bakst... It was undoubtedly during the evening of May 29 1912 at the Châtelet theater that Bouraine discovered the dancer Nijinsky twirling and defying the laws of gravity dressed in a faun costume. The sculpture which emanates here represents a faun half man half animal feeding a doe, symbol of nature, between A pan flute is placed on them. The two subjects and the bronze pan flute rest on an imposing base with tiers of black portor marble. Very beautiful silver, brown, brown and gold patina for the doe with many contrasting shades. Signature on base “Bouraine”.
