"Photographic Room From The 1920s Gilles Faller On Its Mahogany Support"
Study camera with bellows in very good condition, and mounted on an easel on casters for professional use which has a crank for adjusting the camera in height and diagonals. Made of wood and gold-colored metal, it features the manufacturer's plaque on the front. The company for professional photography and amateur photography was founded in 1855 thanks to Besson, who some time later joined forces with Gilles. Around 1870 this second family continued until, until 1900, "Guilles Fils" was replaced by "Gilles E.", who was associated with Faller, giving rise to "GillesFaller", which would become in 1924 in the Société Anonyme (D''Exploiation) des Anciens Établissements Guilles-Faller. The identification plate on the target of the room refers to this last stage, and places the headquarters at 31 rue de Paris, where they would have already settled around 1900, but without mentioning the number 33 of the same (which they would purchase no later than 1926, as this new door appears in that year's L'Industrieur de l'Industrie Photographgraphique. The current easel is very similar to that in Figure 2 (page 2) of the 1928 house catalog (Bibliothèque Nationale Française, Paris) Seeing the advertisement referred to, there is a need for a specific easel, which could be included in the lot by an extra charge in francs. Made in walnut finish, which the customer could choose between varnishing or varnishing, you see the rails which allow the movement of the camera through the wheels on your right and the reinforced canvas bellows."
