Floral carpet from Macchad or Mechhed, Iran circa 1900-1930 in hand-knotted kork wool, for approximately 360,000 knots per m2, in very good collectible condition.
This very beautiful rug comes from the province of Mechhed, a beautiful, highly crafted piece, with slight wear and tear and a decoration of great floral quality.
Mecched is the second largest city in Iran located in the Northeast, it is nicknamed "the city of a thousand faces."
This rug is in good condition, and has a very beautiful decoration of a large rosette like a sun (influence of Zoroastrianism) cut out and surrounded by a blue net, surrounding a small rosette in its heart. In the center of this medallion, an eight-petaled flower surrounded by small stylized flowers.
All over the field appear fine wavy and flowery scrolls, and large bouquets, the colors of great freshness, lively, have a dominant of a beautiful wine lees and deep blue for the field and the border.
Note the quality of the border formed of large bouquets, quite narrow, decorated with flowers and a wide central band decorated with floral decoration.
