-a central basin used as a planter. Raised on four feet in scrolls with acanthus leafy attachments topped with a cartouche decorated with bases, it displays, on its oval and swollen body, a luxuriant frieze decoration of lanceolate leaves, lobes embellished with alternate bases of channels topped with 'a headband with pierced flowered egg patterns. At the ends of its molded edge, two side handles flourish. Punctuated on a small dice structured with a pomegranate bud, these unfold in supple scrolls their foliage of flowering acanthus up to a cartel carved with a branch of myrtle .
On each of its faces, highlighted by a slight recess, a graceful composition takes place. Centered with a ribbon knot, a band of posts festooned with tori of grained laurel serves as an entablature for a flowered openwork cartouche; wrapped, set with delicate floral garlands of roses (Venusian artribute), an oval medallion (not monogrammed) - evoking some sonorous instruments of yesteryear - is crowned with the crisscrossed motifs of a plumed arrow (the line of Love) of a gardening shovel (sowing and cultivating Love) and a pan flute (spring rejoicings),
- associated with its so-called Above Table frame. Dark with a mirror on a wooden frame hemmed with a heart-shaped frieze, this piece has a multi-lobed, projecting shape. Surrounded by a large molded ingot mold, it is decorated on its ogee with flowered stems, festooned at its base with bell-shaped garlands or spring flowers alternated with acanthus swirls interrupted by a base patterned with foliage scrolls and flowers. Each of its faces is shrouded in volutes, acanthus florets from which branches spring forth, a cornucopia of flowers evoking the prodigality of Spring. Foliaged with acanthus, its side handles are adorned with pretty ribbon bows.
Marrying with finesse to Louis the Sentimental Pastoral) Louis XVI, this elegant Centerpiece is unequivocally part of the sought-after and careful creations of the second half of the 19th century. Or, from a time when, a "flagship piece of the artistic staging" of the gleaming tables of the nobility or the rich Parisian bourgeoisie of the time, the Above Table accompanied by its central piece (Jardiniere) or surrounded by associated decorative objects (torches, table ends, cone vases, cups, statuettes, etc.) is a guarantee of convivial sumptuousness as well as appearance.
Exquisitely crafted, with a refined and sure taste, our Centerpiece will be a welcome addition, through the visual coherence of these pieces, to the upcoming spring feasts.
