"Louis XV Period Wedding Wardrobe, Provence 18th Century."
Important and beautiful wedding cabinet in blond walnut richly carved with flowers, acanthus leaves, vases as well as a heart with its arrows and its quiver symbolizing love. It is topped with a curved "policeman's hat" cornice overflowing and deeply carved with generous moldings. A pediment finely carved with scrolls, garlands, flowers and acanthus leaves completes the decor. The doors are sculpted with a sinuous outline called a "spiral" decoration specific to Provençal furniture, characteristic of the style of Fourques, close to the city of Arles. A series of iron fittings, six in number, designed to give perfect balance to the entire architecture of the furniture and underline the great refinement of the decor. The crosspiece is also richly crafted as well as the sides, finished with so-called "snail" winding feet. The lock, key and cremone are original. Finally, the interior has a series of four shelves with five drawers. Provençal furniture, Louis XV period, second half of the 18th century.
