Japanese Stoneware Vase With Red Cover - Eugène Lion (1867-1945)

This magnificent shouldered baluster vase was made by Eugène Lion, most probably around 1910-1920. Made of stoneware, it has a deep Bordeaux red coating characteristic of Eugène Lion's Japanese ceramics. The shouldered neck displays a textured green covering which highlights the worked form of this vase. The spirit of Japanese ceramics is fully at work in this Wabi-Sabi aesthetic vase.
