Rare large round Montpellier platter in solid silver from the 18th century, contoured model. and engraved "D" on the back. Charge and Discharge Hallmarks for MONTPELLIER 1768-75, Common House Hallmark for MONTPELLIER 1773 ("MPL" surmounted by the crowned date letter "Y") and Hallmark of the prestigious Master Goldsmith Paul-David BAZILLE received in 1766. Guard for the period 1769-71. Rare large round Montpellier platter (31.9 cm in diameter!) in very good condition and remarkably hallmarked, beautiful density, micro-scratches from use.
