Magnificent large group in patinated bronze representing a bacchanal with music and dance. Work by Pierre-Alexandre Schoenewerk (1820-1885) and cast by Auguste Maximilien Delafontaine. This bronze sculpture is of incredible quality and finesse of execution. A bacchante on the tambourine seems to lead the scene, Bacchus supporting her with a drink in his hand and the putti dancing and playing cymbals. Very beautiful expression of the protagonists. Gilt bronze base chiseled with laurel leaves. The brown and golden patinas are original. Schoenewerk and Delafontaine signature on the terrace. Napoleon III period around 1860.
