"Small Rosewood Showcase, Louis XV / Louis XVI Transition Style – Early 20th Century"
This small rosewood display case opens, in the upper part, with a glass door, with a mitered amaranth frame, highlighted by a net and a composition of lemon tree and dark wood. This door, opening on offset pivots, is fitted with a functional original lock with key and bronze entry. Below, a small framed tablet is lined with black faux leather. The lower part in rosewood veneer, arranged in butterfly wings and decorated with the same compositions of nets, presents marquetry with flower planter decorations. The uprights, in horizontal veneer of similar species with gilded bronze falls with Corinthian capital motifs, end in bronze sabots. The delicately cut crosspiece has a cul-de-lampe with acanthus leaves and scrolls. The sides are glazed at the top and paneled at the bottom. This piece of furniture is topped with a grooved Aleppo breccia marble. The interior offers a fixed shelf at the bottom and top. This small rosewood display case will appeal with its size and its storage spaces, one of which is glazed and the other not. ******** Period: Early 20th Century Excellent condition.
