Rare artist, mainly landscaper, who practiced on his lands in Guéret, Corrèze, Aveyron and Lot. He trained in Paris and exhibited for only a few years, around 1890 on the walls of the Salon des Artistes Français. His life took place entirely between Paris and Guéret where he spent most of his time. Passionate about history and the arts, he devoted his life to painting and showcasing heritage. Endowed with real talent, Lajaumont produced his works with finesse, worked in glazes or even sculpted with the back of a brush. The painter's canvases and panels are almost never found on the art market. Were the majority kept by the family? Any additional information will be welcome.
This charming view of Rocamadour was taken around 1880/90 and shows us the “holy” town from its usual angle. However, perched on its rock, it appears in the background, like a detail of the composition where a couple takes all the light, dressed in blue and red in front of a ruined house. The anecdotal becomes the subject, and the subject becomes the setting.
