Object description :

"Nativity - 17th Century Flemish School "
A Flemish work from the workshop of Abraham WILLEMSENS, active in Antwerp from 1627 until 1672. Our oil on panel presents a beautiful Nativity scene where characters and angels are luminous. In the background we find a scene from The Announcement to the Shepherds, an episode of the nativity in which an angel announces the birth of the Messiah to a group of shepherds. Luke tells us, “In the same region there were shepherds who lived outdoors and spent the night in the fields tending their flocks.
The angel of the Lord appeared before them, and the glory of the Lord enveloped them in its light. They were seized with great fear.
Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy to all the people: Today in the city of David there is born to you a Savior, who is the Christ, the Lord. »
