After short-term training at the Namur Academy with Théodore Baron, Henri Deglume also worked at AJ Heymans around 1894. He maintained contacts with the "Le Sillon" Group in Brussels but then retired to his native village of Gerpinnes, hence a predilection for the landscapes of the Ardennes. His impressionist style was initially influenced by the pointillism of Seurat but would become more refined, with a fresh and optimistic color palette. As a teacher, he was Master of Peter Paulus.
