"A painter from Bologna living in Venice, he used his lively talent to reproduce some of the most characteristic points of that picturesque city. In Florence, the Bacino di San Marco, which he exhibited in 1886 at the Promotrice, is a fine painting, where there is the harmony of local tints, a vigorous effect of sunlight, with well-rendered reflections, the revelation, in short, of a well-inspired and conscientious artist, who feels and knows how to reproduce the real in every minute manifestation of it".
