"Pair Of Large Covered Stone Vases From The Louis XIV Period"
Pair of large covered stone vases from the Louis XIV period. The overhanging lid is decorated with a frieze of eggs. The body of the vase is carved with interlocking laurel leaves and lictor's fasces in the upper part, and flanked by fully sculpted busts of winged victories. The lower part with gadroon decorations rests on a circular pedestal with a square base. The pedestals are molded with panels on all sides. These park or garden vases have a purely decorative function and are in good condition considering their ages.
