"Marius Francois Avy : “leaving For A Walk”"
Joseph Marius Jean Avy (1871-1939): “Leaving for the walk”, oil on canvas 86 X 46 cm, mounted in its beautiful original gilded frame 99 neo-classical symbolist Art-Deco style, whose leader was Jean Dupas, probably under the influence of his father-in-law Albert Besnard with whom he created large decorative frescoes, this beautiful Marseille artist, student of Bonnat, had a period of society painter where Beautiful Ladies evolve in 1900 interiors. Our painting is of course linked to this first manner and shows us a young woman preparing to go out on a beautiful, somewhat cool morning. Her mischievous smile in the shadow of the hat which, like her parasol, protects her white skin from the bite of the sun which brings out the shades of white of her clothes.
