NB: In 1855, Mr Billiet (Paris)  filed the patent for "sleepers". These small, low-volume drop earrings can be kept on at night because the hook enters the earlobe from behind and locks at the front at the top.
These sleepers have a decor inspired by nature, very popular under Napoleon III.
