Object description :

"Powder Pear From The House Of The King Under Louis XIV, France, 17th Century"
Powder reserve of 1 pound in thick and strong leather, shaped like a heart, two holes in the shoulder for its suspension, sewn into two shells, sunny rosette incised in the center surrounded by a heart-shaped stitched decoration, having on each facing the royal hallmarks with the Fleur de Lys. Targeted pewter pouring spout. In very good condition for four centuries old leather with its original stitching. The rare examples known from this period have a wooden stopper, without decoration. Our piece has a particular heart shape in the radiant sun, with en-suite decor, a pewter spout and royal attributes. We can therefore conclude that it is an officer's powder flask... See according to the expert work of General Pierre Surirey de Saint Rémy published in 1697. Museum piece. Dimensions Height 22cm Width 14cm.
