Drawing of a medium-sized male nude.
From the 19th century
Drawing on slightly greyish colored paper.
In good condition. Irregular margins with application marks on support in the painter's studio.
The drawing represents a man standing, with a slightly forward pose, with hands on his face, as if he were crying in despair or in a moment of strong tragic emotion.
Coming from the atelier of the Turin artist Luigi Guglielmino.
The collection of sketches and preparatory drawings mainly included works by his master and his workshop, Enrico Reffo, one of the greatest exponents of Italian religious painting of the second half of the nineteenth century.
Our drawing must have been a study or a preparatory drawing or a sketch for a fresco project in one of the numerous Piedmontese religious buildings frescoed by Reffo and his pupils.
Drawing of great quality, showing the continuity of the Italian and English academic school of drawing, which continued to live in the atelier of the Painter Reffo.
The margins with small defects.
