"Bronze Sculpture XIX Century Fruit Seller Henri Giraud. "
19th century bronze sculpture representing a fruit seller. Very pretty overall patina highlighting the very good quality of the carving and the richness of the rendering of the details visible on the basket of fruit for example or the facial expression elsewhere. Artist's signature on the base. Henri Giraud was a recognized artist of the 19th century. Born to French parents in Belgium in 1805, he died in Paris in 1895. He participated in the Salon des Artistes Français in 1889 where he won a grand prize and was a member from 1870 to 1894. Note the somewhat orientalist character of the clothing giving this sculpture a charming and sensual side. Very nice size, height 50 cm.
