"Office Inkwell Representing “the Thinker” By Emile-louis Picault (1833-1915)"
Important bronze desk inkwell with polychrome patina on a sea green marble base. Allegorical bronze titled and signed on the terrace. The young man is seated on a rock in the company of an eagle, and holds a book marked: “It is on the high peaks that the thinker meditates”. The young man with his heroic appeal is captivated by a pensive expression and seems to be facing a difficult decision. Old edition cast iron with BD founder's mark debossed on the reverse. The container for writing accessories such as the quill is housed in a hollowed-out marble terrace, the cups intended for the ink are in gilded bronze and chiseled with foliage decorations.
