Authentic old jewelry - French work from the 1970s.
Our opinion: Jewelry designer, student of the goldsmith François Hugo, Jacques Gautier quickly became interested in enamel techniques. At the beginning of the 1950s, he created jewelry for Haute Couture, Dior in particular, then he opened a gallery on rue Jacob in 1958, near his workshop. His first clients will be Simone de Beauvoir, Max Ernst, Sonia Delaunay. In the 70s, he broadened his horizons, working with stained glass, enameled steel, mirrors, sculpting glass while continuing to create jewelry, private commissions but also Haute Couture collections (Nina Ricci in the 90s). A retrospective of his work, “Bijoux-Lumière” was dedicated to him, at the Museum of Decorative Arts, in Paris, in 1999.
