A fine C19th Grand tour bronze depicting Saint Peter after the sculpture by Cambio; this well defined bronze from the grand tour period is of unusually large size 36cm in height.
Among the very famous St. Peter’s Basilica Statues, this one was thought to date from the 5th century AD. After much speculation, the statue is now credited to Arnolfo di Cambio, a renowned Tuscan artist who completed it towards the end of the 1200s.
