"Miniature"
Oval medallion in gilded metal and mother-of-pearl inlaid with floral motifs and a small enameled pansy, containing a miniature representing the portrait of a noble lady dressed in a white dress and a lace scarf with roses in her hair. The small painting, done in oil on a thin ivory plate, bears the artist's signature and the date 1820. Inès d'Esménard (Paris *1789 – †1859) was one of the most important miniaturists listed, very active in Paris in the first half of the 19th century.
