"Large Dining Room Table In Solid Mahogany, England Late 19th Century "
Large mahogany dining table with double tripod base finished with casters. The top and legs are made of solid mahogany. The table in its short version (210cm long by 104cm wide) can accommodate up to 8 people. With its 70cm extension (in solid mahogany here too…) you can dine for 12 people with a total length of 280cm. Very practical, the table can be almost completely disassembled and has gilded bronze casters. Dim without extensions high 75cm, long. 210 cm depth 104cm Dimensions of the extension 70cm Good general condition, a few scratches What we think: a table with spectacular dimensions since when deployed this table is 2.8m long. This is very uncommon. Add a double tripod base and the use of solid mahogany and you will understand that the quality of the furniture is very real. Very functional and excellently made 19th century English furniture is particularly well represented here. DID YOU KNOW ? : the English Victorian style (1830-1900) is one of the longest in the history of furniture styles. The long reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) coincided with an era of prosperity during which the artisanal and industrial production of furniture gave rise to a very eclectic reissue of the styles of the past. Mahogany, walnut and beech are used as solid wood, ebony as veneer. Bamboo and rattan are used to make garden furniture. The gilded and chiseled bronzes are produced industrially. Casters almost always finish the front legs of the seats.
