"Henri Lanos Russia "
Gouache and watercolor on paper representing a crowd of Russian pilgrims in front of the chapel of a monastery. This work is the illustration model for the book "Russia Impressions portraits landscapes" by Armandc Sylvestre (Paris, Émile Testard, 1892) by Henri Lanos (1859-1929). A renowned illustrator from the end of the 19th century, he worked for magazines such as illustration and caricature. The gouache is in two superimposed sheets, framed in a wooden frame, signed lower left and measures 35x21.5 cm alone.
