Pretty porcelain plaque entirely hand painted, representing two monks in a scriptorium in the Middle Ages. The first is seated on a seat called a “pincer chair”, pen in hand, he creates an illumination. The second one stands up and consults a book. This magnificent work, of great realism, was produced by Pierre Hugo and bears the artist's signature at the bottom right. Our porcelain plaque is sold in a beautiful gold frame. Pierre Hugo was born in 1960 in Boulogne Billancourt. He was a student at the pilot school of Sèvres in the drawing section then he completed his training at the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he left with a very solid training. He specializes in genre scenes and characters from Ancient civilization, the Middle Ages, as well as military costumes. He draws and paints for major publishers like Nathan, Larousse, Gallimard. With "Décors de Paris" and its creator René Jullien, he developed a series entitled "Old Trades" in the Middle Ages. Dimensions: Frame 35 cm
