Object description :

"Game Table Forming Console Louis XV Period, 18th Century"
Louis XV Cherry Wood Game Table, 18th Century "Louis This beautiful game table comes from the Rhône valley, we still feel the Lyon influence in the central shell while heading towards the south of France. a very beautiful regional piece of furniture that smells of sunshine. it is made of a very beautiful blond cherry, which recalls the color of blond walnuts and which is therefore not reddish. the fact that it is made of solid cherry has protected it considerably from insect attacks but preventive treatment has been carried out in the workshop. it consists of a large scalloped crossbar hemmed with a net decorated with honeycomb crosspieces over the entire facade and accommodating in the center a large asymmetrical shell that is found on certain Lyon and Provençal furniture. this shell is truly spectacular and very bold in sculpture. we find the same type of work on the side sleepers. it is as pretty on the front as on the sides. it rests on four nicely curved legs hemmed with a net along the entire length and ending in doe feet with ungulate hooves. the front legs are carved with floral motifs at the level of the connection with acanthus leaves reminiscent of fleur-de-lys sculpted in the mass. it is mounted with dovetails under the marble and is pegged. it is topped with a very beautiful Pyrenees marble with slightly later shades of pink and yellow. it had to be rebuilt in the 19th century and has already been restored but the repair is invisible. the 4 tips of the feet were grafted over approximately 10 cm. reinforcements were put back inside the crosspieces at the level of the connecting dice at the rear under the marble to guarantee its solidity. the original patina is a beautiful natural wax patina. a very beautiful, elegant and refined game table, light and balanced. dimensions: 122 cm long by 63 cm deep and 83 cm high. we deliver and ship all over the world, please contact us for an accurate quote.
