Eugène Paul, known as Gen Paul, is a French expressionist painter, also a draftsman, engraver and lithographer. Self-taught and sometimes described in a reductive way as a “painter of Montmartre”, his style is recognizable among all. It is an anti-academic freedom, a sketch which captures the moment but which refuses to freeze it, thus offering us the illusion of seeing reality and its incessant movement.
