Pair Of 17th Century Still Lifes With Flowers And Birds.

We present a splendid pair of oils on canvas depicting vases with flowers, birds and insects on a neutral and dark background. The groups of flowers are richly adorned and executed with a certain pictorial skill, he is a very material artist who tends to determine the details and the effects of light with long, dense and fast brushstrokes. It is probable that these paintings were executed by the Lombard painter Margerita Caffi already praised by historians and critics in the eighteenth century and only recently has her work been partially traced and re-evaluated.
