"Hamon - 5 Photograms & Photomontages"
Set of photographs by André Hamon, amateur photographer and member of the Photo-Ciné-Club of Crédit Foncier de France in Paris. These photographs were presented at the Club's annual exhibitions and, for some of them, shown at the exhibitions of other photo clubs. André HAMON (1900-1984) had a “very successful career at Crédit Foncier de France, culminated by an appointment as Knight of the Legion of Honor”. A member of this organization's Photo-Cine-Club, he devoted a large part of his time to photography and the astronomical instruments that he loved making. He was also a member of the French Astronomical Society for 59 years. In 1969, then Secretary General of the Society for three years, he took over the joint presidency of the Instruments and Photography Commissions. AFIAP 82 rue A. Briand. ORSAY (S. and O.)”; - titled “Thistles”. - lost exhibition label (protruded from the bottom edge and gave the public the name of the author). (Traces of underlying glue showing “embossed” spiral patterns on the print). 390 x 287mm. [Surrealist photomontage] HAMON (André), large silver print laminated on cardboard, 1964, with on the back: - label of the Photo-Ciné-Club of Crédit Foncier de France in Paris dated 1964, Unnumbered proof; - address perhaps autograph “A. HAMON. 82 rue A. Briand. Orsay (91)”; - titled “The Missing Link”. - glued exhibition label giving the public the name of the author and protruding from the lower part. Photomontage of a mosaic of upside-down flower buds and addition of photographs of two pairs of eyes. Probably direct retouching of the eyes on the negative. 288 x 395mm.
