Louis XV style cage chandelier from ca. 1900 with gilt bronze frame and cut glass plates in several colors including mauve, smoky and clear. It has 13 points of light in total including 4 in the daggers and 3 flowers inside the chandelier. The chandelier is decorated with a wide variety of cut crystal elements, namely: prisms in different shapes; stars; flowers; 9 obelisks on two levels and a large one in the middle; and drops applied to the bobèches.
The chandelier is stamped "E Mottheau Paris" for Mottheau et Fils, a house known for their drawings and bronze work. They participated in the Universal Exhibition in Paris of 1900 after which they became particularly known for their lighting work. The introduction of electricity gave opportunities to firms like Mottheau et Fils to work on advanced electrification possibilities.
