Virgin And Child In Oak From The 16th Century flag

Object description :

"Virgin And Child In Oak From The 16th Century"
Virgin and Child in oak, carved in a slightly swayed standing position, dating from the 16th century.
She wears a dress with a round neckline and a long veil forming a coat, the drape of which returns to the waist to form a large bow and falls in a cascade of large broken pleats on the front.
Her pretty face, slightly inclined, is surrounded by hair with soft, wavy locks.
On her left arm she carries the naked Child, quite chubby, gracefully adorned with youthful curls.
This sculpture emanates a discreet gentleness, particularly in the gestures: that of the Child whose hand rests delicately on Mary's chest, and that of Mary holding her child's little foot with her right hand.
