A. Perrachon is known for his paintings of genre scenes, still lifes and especially flowers. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1850 where he obtained an honourable mention in 1859, then a second in 1863. He acquired his reputation by his ability to give flowers and roses a naturalness of unequalled perfection.
He was elected president of the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts when it was created in 1887.
He taught painting to Claudia Bret-Charbonnier, Thérèse Guérin, Marie Girard-Nauwelaers, Marie Hodieux-Belous and Mathilde Mitton as well as to his grandson Joseph Perrachon (1883-1969).
