BENNETTER Johan Jakob Born September 30, 1822 in Oslo. Died March 29, 1904. 19th century. Norwegian. Painter of landscapes and seascapes. He was first a sailor. In 1844 he came to study at the drawing school in Oslo; In 1849 Bennetter obtained a travel grant to The Hague. For two years, his master was Louis Meyer. He came to Paris in 1852 and worked with T. Gudin for the same period of time. From 1855 to 1870, he exhibited at the Salon. In 1880 he returned to Norway and remained there until his death. Oil on canvas signed lower left and dated lower right November 2, 1875. Format: 27 x 41 cm with frame: 43 x 57 cm
