"Large Regency / Louis XV Armchair With Flat Back, Early 18th Century"
Large and comfortable Regency period armchair in waxed natural wood from the early 18th century. Our seat rests on four console legs, the armrests are recessed, its wide flat backrest offers perfect comfort. Discreet little carved shell pattern on the crosspiece of the front belt. This rare armchair perfectly marks the period of transition from the Louis XIV style, here marked by the base recalling the "sheep bone" shapes, to the arrival of the Louis shell of the transom. This solidly built seat is in good house condition. The woodwork has some small, fairly discreet gaps (see photos), old traditional wax fillings were carried out in certain places on the base (see photos). The upholstery is also in good house condition, the seat is comfortable. Pale yellow velvet covering fabric with a few tiny little traces of use without the slightest impact. Superb patina.
