The Nazarene movement born in Germanic countries at the beginning of the 19th century ; Linked to romanticism, the wish is to put forward the spiritual and moral values of the Christian religion. It was originally founded at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna by students who wanted the revival of German painting from the Sturm und Drang and neoclassical movements.
