^{The Portrait of Beethoven is Naoum Aronson's best-known work. The large bronze proof was made in 1905 for the city of Bonn, where it still stands today. After this date, the model was distributed in smaller sizes. A Russian sculptor, Naoum Aronson began his career in Paris and emigrated to the United States in 1941 to escape the Nazi occupation.
