Niderviller porcelain
The development of hard-paste porcelain owes much to Comte de Custine, who bought the factory in 1770. His partnership with Lanfrey in 1778 secured a permanent supply of kaolin. The factory flourished throughout the 1780's. Unfortunately, fate had other plans: the Count was guillotined in 1793... Lanfrey managed to sell the company in 1827, and its new owner shifted production to fine earthenware.
Condition report: good condition, with a very slight chip on the lip.
