Born in Marseille, Lucien Roudier, known as Eller, is an illustrator, decorator, and painter of the Roaring Twenties. Nightlife, bars, performance halls and jazz clubs are his favorite subjects, which he represents in an expressive and graphic manner.
Here he depicts Jeanne Florentine Bourgeois, known as Mistinguett, the famous French singer and actress. Eller was a laureate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, and he was a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. After the First World War, he moved to Paris where he exhibited notably at the Salons des Indépendants and the Salon des Humoristes.
