Object description :

"Contemporary African Painting, Well Rimo, "
Very large painting by the Ivory Coast artist WELL RIMO. From the street to the auction room, Well has an exceptional destiny. In 2023 he sold two of his paintings at auction, one for 10,000 euros, the other for 13,000 euros. Well is a painter from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, which he had to leave in 2016 to flee the violence that was taking place there at the time. After a long journey, he arrived in Montpellier in 2017, where he ended up finding refuge in the Rondelet solidarity workshop. And through hard work, become the artist we know as Well Rimo. Well Rimo's works are a reflection of his life, the culture and the people of his country of origin. His influences are multiple: outsider art, “Bad painting” (Basquiat, Kokian, etc.), without forgetting that of the Ivorian painter Aboudia. News highlighted him in May 2021: during the Cannes Film Festival, he hand-delivered his portrait to the American director Spike Lee, president of the jury.
