Copper kettle by the Demidoff factory, Russia, circa 1770 resting on a chiseled tripod stove with foliage legs, the neck decorated with three masks in foliage scrolls, the kettle decorated with hunting scenes with dogs, ducks, deer and bull, in a forest landscape, the grip of the lid in the shape of a dove, the mobile creased handle.

Objects made with this technique are very rare. Copper was mined in the Urals where most of the mines for this material were owned by the Demidoff family. They also had mines producing iron, silver, and precious and semi-precious stones. From the mid-18th century the family opened workshops which produced, among other things, domestic objects such as embossed and chiselled teapots and coffeepots with Rococo designs in partially gilded metal.
