Object description :

"Pair Of English Bulldogs In Polychrome Terracotta From The 19th Century "
Large Pair of Dog Sculptures:
English mastiffs or bulldogs in polychrome Terracotta from the 19th Century.
quite uncommon on the antique market, this is a rare pair of terracotta sculptures, representing two dogs, mastiffs, or more precisely English bulldogs whose eyes are made of sulphide.
This is a very beautiful work in the spirit of the famous Goldscheider factory, from the end of the 19th century.
the polychromy has been well preserved and has resisted the wear and tear of time.
they are very realistic and almost to scale 1.
These sculptures have reached us in good condition, there is just a small chip on a finger of a paw of one of the last but very little visible.
They are therefore made and sculpted life-size with a very realistic scowl and quite common among these breeds of dogs.
the patina has been very well preserved.
Be careful, the weight is quite significant!

a pair of unusual dogs who will keep you company while remaining faithful to you.
