Attributed to Gustave Doré (1832-1883).
Unsigned. The shell-shaped cup simulating a boat is surmounted at the stern by an Angelo seeming to be headed
and at the bow the bust of Nike: the Greek Goddess of Victory.
The cup is placed on three dolphins with intertwined tails.
The head on a molded triangular base.
Removable gold brass interior (striped)
Height: 46 cm - width: 41 cm - prof. 17.50 cm.
Completely cleaned, two screw threads changed connecting the cup to the dolphins.
Good condition, visible wear to the gilding.

We find our cherub on Gustave Doré's clock 'time mowing down loves. Gustave Doré designed this clock for his mistress, Alice Ozy.
A famous stage actress and "courtesan", she was delivered in 1879.
Today on display at the Museum of Decorative Arts.
A similar model of this table nave was presented at auction at Sotheby's Paris,
under number 295 on April 11, 2018 (awarded: €4,375 including fees);
With indication: gilding completely scratched.
